TRAINING OF TRAINERS (TOT)
Africa Youth Trust (AYT) is a registered Trust that was created to spearhead a Youth Led Development model in Kenya with a view to replication in other African Countries. Youth Led Development (YLD) is about young people making a living and future for themselves and their communities.
Under one of its progrmammes, Youth Employment Initiative, Africa Youth Trust aims at increasing knowledge and skills of young people on employment possibilities and entrepreneurship within Nairobi area. These efforts include capacity building and development of training and networking models.
In October 2011, Africa Turnaround Limited was contracted to conduct Training of Trainers targeting 50 youth in Business Skills and Enterprise Development as well as Employability Skills. The assignment involved:
- Carrying out a comprehensive piloting of the training sessions included in the curriculum for Business Skills and Employability
- Drafting reports with the results of the piloting, including suggestions for improvements on the designed training sessions and materials
- Training the TOTs on the curriculum and helping acquaint themselves with the contents of the curriculum
- Training the TOTs on participatory adult learning delivery methodologies and techniques
- Developing and submitting a training report after the training
- Conducting training on communication and facilitation skills for training forums
- Facilitating a joint group work plan development session at the end of the workshop that included all practical planning and preparation issues of the training sessions
The assignment was successfully completed within the agreed timelines and to the satisfaction of the client.
