BLENDED LEARNING FOR COOPS

ATL is contracted by AMEA Global, under an IFAD grant, to pilot (in partnership with IFC) IFC's Agribusiness Leadership Program with 25 farmer organizations in Kenya, working in partnership with Christian Aid and Traid Craft. ATL will conduct SCOPE assessments, translate the digitized course into Swahili, induct coaches to the program, rollout e-Learning coupled with coaching and linkages. The IFC's ALP course is mapped to the SCOPEInsight assessment and has been tested in several countries. It is intended to enable farmer organizations to professionalize, enhancing their access to market and finance.

Capacity development for Agri SMEs in preparation for access to finance.  The assignment involves conducting diagnostics, designing a scope of work based on identified needs, implement the technical assistance program with the aim of preparing the SME for access to capital to unlock growth and expansion. 

ASSESS 10 AGRI SMEs
FOR TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE

Assessment of 10 Agri SMEs with a view to designing and executing a capacity development program. Conduct SCOPE assessments, provide assessment report per SME and offer capacity development recommendations based on identified needs. 

STRENGTHENING FARMER COOPERATIVES

A 9-month assignment in Kenya Developing the crops and dairy cooperatives into more sustainable commercial and profitable enterprises. The assignment entailed:  

  • Assessment of co-operatives capacity using the SCOPE methodology    

  • Providing customized training on strategies to manage the cooperative’s operations in the collection, bulking and sales and marketing, with specific technical training and support with linkages. 

  • Refocusing the attitude on produce aggregation operations to a more commercial enterprise and building strong relationships with suppliers. 

  • Strengthening governance, transparency financial management and relationships with members.  

  • Developing business growth and turnaround strategies for the cooperatives through the preparation of a strategic business plan and an investment/ funding proposal.

IN COOP DEVELOPMENT 

Building and testing a digital solution for sustainable and scalable coop development 

A 2-year Assignment Covering Kenya and Rwanda

ATL won competitive bid to partner with KCB.

The overall goal of the assignment was to create a scalable system that makes it possible to address the barriers which are hampering farmer organizations and Agri SMEs from graduating to higher levels of professionalism and from seizing opportunities. 

  • ATL built a digital marketplace that facilitates access to low-cost scalable capacity building, access to market, finance, and inputs. [ATL got to own the platform which is now www.twalisha.com]  

  • ATL digitized a leadership course and tested it with 35 farmer organizations using a blended approach, combining e-Learning with coach support. 

  • ATL assessed over 300 crops and dairly coops in Kenya and Rwanda and offered capacity development recommendations.

Review needs, design TA scope, undertake TA

A 6-month assignment in Kenya

TechforTrade, a UK based organization, contracted ATL to review SME needs, design and execute a TA program for each SME. 

ASSESS AND RECOMMEND A TA PROGRAM FOR 8 AGRI SMEs IN SOUTH SUDAN

ATL conducted SCOPE assessments of 8 AGRA funded seed companies based in South Sudan. The assessment scored the companies against viability, access to finance, sustainability and market competitiveness in the context of South Sudan. ATL offered a comprehensive recommendation report for each company.
